What is the Stems function and how do I use it?
Stems separates a track into its main components in real time: vocals, drums, and instruments. Three color-coded buttons above each deck control the respective parts:
This allows for spontaneous mashups without needing to prepare acapellas or instrumentals in advance. It works equally well in both rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro.
How does the DMX lighting control work?
The DDJ-FLX10 features a 3-pin XLR DMX output on the back. You can connect it directly to your DMX lights (pars, moving heads, LED bars) and use the rekordbox Lighting Mode on your laptop.
Using rekordbox, you can define which light effects match which track, or let the software automatically sync colors and movements to the music. An external DMX interface is not required.
Are both rekordbox and Serato free to use?
Yes, the DDJ-FLX10 is a hardware unlock device for both major DJ software packages. When you connect the controller via USB-C, it automatically activates:
With the DDJ-1000, Serato Pro required a paid license, but that is no longer the case with the FLX10. Extensions like DVS or Pitch 'n Time must still be purchased separately.
What are the multicolor jog rings?
The DDJ-FLX10 is the first Pioneer controller with multi-colored jog rings. The color of the rings changes to match the Active Part function during stems control, so you can see at a glance which parts are currently active (e.g., vocals red, drums blue, instruments green).
You can customize the colors to suit your preferences, for example, for branding during live streams.
What is the difference compared to the DDJ-1000?
The DDJ-FLX10 is the direct successor to the DDJ-1000 and features several upgrades:
In return, the FLX10 is slightly larger (716 vs 708 mm) and heavier (6.7 vs 6 kg).
What else do I need to connect?
