✓ Individually calibrated measurement microphone ✓ Omnidirectional polar pattern ✓ XLR with 48V | For room and speaker calibration with SoundID Reference | Calibration file included.
The Sonarworks SoundID measurement microphone is an omnidirectional condenser measurement microphone designed for precise room and speaker calibration. Each unit is individually measured by Sonarworks against an ANSI-certified reference microphone, and the corresponding calibration file compensates for any minor deviations to ensure your measurements are accurate across the entire audible range.

Why do I need a measurement microphone?
A measurement microphone helps you discover how your speakers truly sound in your specific room.
Every room colors the sound: bass modes and reflections from walls and furniture can significantly shift the frequency response. The measurement microphone captures these deviations so you can subsequently correct them using software or EQ.
What does "individually calibrated" mean?
Every single microphone at Sonarworks has been measured against an ANSI-certified reference microphone.
The resulting calibration file is unique to this specific microphone and is assigned via a profile ID printed on the housing. This eliminates the manufacturing variances typically found in budget measurement microphones.
What software do I need for this?
The microphone is designed for Sonarworks SoundID Reference, but it also works with other measurement software.
For third-party programs, a calibration file is available in an open text format. The SoundID Reference license is not included in the rental; Sonarworks offers a time-limited trial version for this purpose.
What do I need to connect it?
You will need an audio interface or mixer with an XLR input and 48V phantom power.
You can rent suitable interfaces like the Audient EVO 8 or Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 directly from Renty. A microphone stand is also recommended to keep the microphone steady at the listening position during measurement.
Can I use it for regular recordings?
Technically yes, but it is not recommended.
A measurement microphone is intentionally designed to be linear and without sonic character; it is not meant to color the sound. For vocals, speech, or instruments, you are better off using a large-diaphragm or live microphone, which you can also find at Renty.
How accurate is the measurement?
In combination with the Reference software, the measurement accuracy is approximately ±0.9 dB within the audible range.
To achieve this level of accuracy, the correct microphone position and measurement angle are crucial. The included profiles for 0, 30, and 90 degrees cover all standard measurement methods.
